TAKE YOUR PET TO YOUR VET !
I would hope that you make an appointment with your vet before you recieve your puppy .In doing so ,you will be assured that your pet is healthy .
Poos-4-u puppies see the vet here from 3 to 5 times
before they go to a new home .However ....stress plays a roll in your puppie's transistion and always best to have YOUR vet verify what mine has said and done .
This is a exellent time also to talk about heartworm treatment and when it should begin,dental care  and about spaying /neutering and when your vet would like that prodedure done .
 
 
COMFORT  YOUR PET ...
Your puppy will be under a tremendous amount of stress the first 2 weeks or so in their new home .Some show it by being nervous ,some by not eating as they should ,some by loose bowels ,some show it by whinning .Holding ,petting ,toys ,all of this is important to you and your pet .But do watch for signs that show stress and as always ,seek the advice of your vet if they do not eat or have loose bowels .
 
FOOD AND WATER :
toy dogs need to eat often ,they play ...eat a bite ...play ...eat...sleep ...eat ....The energy level of a toy dog is high and a little fast paced .To keep up that level ,they need food and water in reach 24 hours a day until alot older .this is necessary or you could have one very sick little puppy .A puppy that does not get the intake it needs can have a sugar drop and become very ill .Sometimes this hypoglicemia  is misdiagnosed and is not treated .
keep food and water in within puppy reach and twice a day give alittle honey on your finger or nutrical to keep sugar level up .remember not to give too much as that can cause loose bowels also .
 
HEALTH;
Poos-4-U tries to make sure your puppy is the most healthy it can be before it leaves .
We worm at 3,4,5 weeks old with Strongit .
My vet worms at 6 and 9 weeks with Drontal
We use Revolution on each puppy at 6 weeks old .
Parvo/distemper is given by my vet at 6 ,9 and if we have them at 12 weeks  .the one at 12 weeks is the final shot in that series .
If we have the puppy at 12 weeks ,we also give kennel cough vaccine  and rabies( as it is required in this state at that age ) .This rabies shot is the only one it needs for a year to 3 according to what your state laws are .ALL States reconize this shot .If a vet tells you otherwise ,do NOT let them regive the shot .it is not necessary and could cause problems .My vet can verify any and all rabies shots and other shots.
My puppies get a full health check from my vet before they come to you and we send that health check with the puppy .
If out of state a State Health Certificate accompanies the puppy also .
STRESS is the deciding factor in your puppies health once they come to you .Please take the time to have the necessary items on hand for stress related factors and talk to your vet about making it as easy as possible for the new member of your family to fit in .
Stress is the strongest the first 10 days a puppy is in a new inviroment.Puppies can and do also have colds ,sore throats ,loose bowels,allergies  ,sugar drops from changes in weather inviroments to just the change of homes .
Be aware of this and understand a puppy is like a child and can get sick .Make sure you have all available items for these problems .
 
CHILDREN and YOUR PET :
Although most Puppies ADORE children and CHildren adore puppies ,it is best if your child is small to set rules of play and supervise .Toy Dogs are easily hurt ,picking up by the neck ,leg ,tail  can cause damage to the puppy and any puppy when hurt does not know why and could snap at the child .Then you have several problems .A child afraid of a loving puppy ,a puppy leary of the child and a vet bill if the puppy is hurt ...Supervision and rules set assure your child and your pet many hours of joy and lots of love .Take the time to teach both how to best accomplish that .
 
GROOMING :
A clean and well groomed pet is a happy pet .And more than apt more healthy .
brushing coats ,trimmed nails ,hair pulled out of inside of ears ,baths once a month are all crucial to the health of your pet .Diet and grooming ,vet care and love all go together to make sure your pet is as pleasing to you and it is to your next door neighbor !
 
 
HOUSE TRAINNING :
Puppy pads and puppy litter is sold at wal-mart and pet-co and pet-smart .I do not endorse Crate trainning for toy dogs .A toy cannot hold the urine and bowels like a larger dog can and will use the crate and on themselves if they have no otehr place to use it at .Unless you understand that a crate is NOT to leave one in over 30 minutes at a time ,DO NOT USE ONE !!!!!
People often see a neighbor crating a dog and never read about it enough to use it correctly .Toy Dog will and do pee in the crate and on temselves if you lock them in .
I am against it because PEOPLE do NOT understand the correct way to use one and then get all out of sorts with the puppy .IT IS YOUR FAULT if you lock them in ,leave them and they have no where else to go but there .
housetraining is a process that takes time ,patience and practice .Please be prepared to accept this and work on it with your pet .
 
 
THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW :
 
Do not wet the food or use can food .Mine eat Eukanuba Small Breed and it is dry kibble .
Do not give any bones to the dog ,even as an adult .They splinter and can cause death .
Chocolate to a dog is like poision to us .Some react bad and some don't .Do not take that chance .Do not feed chocolate to your pet .
DO not give milk or milk products to your pet .Causes bowels to be loose and can make them sick .
Do not let your puppy eat your houseplants .Some are poision and can kill them .
Do not leave plastic objects where a puppy can get to it .
Keep electrical and phone cords up out of puppy reach .
 
These puppies are HOUSE PETS .putting a small dog outside is very dangerous .they can have colds ,get sick ,stolen ,ran over by a car or be mauled by a larger animal .Please take all precautions with your pet .A pet is for life .YOU are their source of LOVE ,FOOD ,WATER ,LAUGHTER ,PLAY ,A PEACEFUL SLEEP ,BUTMOST OF ALL YOU ARE THEIR PROTECTOR FOR THEIR LIFE.
