The cost to breed ...

is not a small amount .

My vet bill alone last year was close to $25,000 .00

Of course I am a breeder and have several dogs plus rescues and pets . And my vet gives me a discount plus alot of times in rescues he charges me nothing to treat them which helps ,but it isn't easy ..

Plus ..not included in vet care is

Eukanuba is 45.00 a bag (40lbs ) That is the food mine eat .My food bill is expensive each year .Very expensive .

Grooming equipement like clippers and blades and sissors and combs and brushes and other is high if you maintain your animals they way you should . New blades cost on average 30 to 40 .00  a blade and each one will cut about 12 dogs .You can have them sharpened yes ,but usually they do not work as well .

Heart Wormer and wormers for other worms  for dogs is Panacure,Pyrantal ,Ivomeck and Drontal .The first 2 at over 70.00 a bottle and then Ivomeck for heart worming and Drontal is 5 to 8 .00 a pill . This within a year is a high cost .

Shots and other through the year adds to the bills and then you have treats ,toys ,bedding that has to be washed constant ,water cause water isn't free ,heating ,cooling , maintaining the set up you have ,cleaners such as clorox and oxyclean and a host of other cleaners by the gallons so wal mart gets alot of business from me cause you have to clean constantly the places where they eat ,sleep and play and poop and peepee .Puppy pads by the cases ,shampoos and flea and tick topicals and sprays and gas to take em to the vet and gas to go get all you need .

There are times when a puppy or adult needs an antibiotic or an extra few days at the vet or teeth cleaning or you have an emergency ,or you need nutrical (15.00) and albon (60.00 ) on average a bottle .

Taking care of moms and dads and puppies with shots and wormers and grooming and treats and all a dog needs is expensive .

So think twice before you start to breed .If you cannot meet the needs of the animals ,you can't breed good dogs .

These costs are why alot of breeders don't use vets . Sorry ,but I do use one . That is why my puppies are priced as they are .

So that I can give mine the care they need . If your breeder doesn't have a vet that can verify that they acutually see them more than once when the puppy leaves and hte cost is anywhere near what I charge for a puppy ,they are selling for money and breeding for money .because a good breeder rarely ever sees a profit .It just isn't there .
