Breeders and what to look for

Buying a puppy or any other item online can be a good experience or a bad one .One always needs to shop around .

First ,make sure you check your breeder out .

www.bbb.org  The Better Business Bureau is the best place to find out if your breeder has any issues .They keep records on any business that will let them .Someone that isn't listed ,be wary of . Records that are true and complaints that are true are found at reliable sources like the Better Business Bureau .

VET REFERENCE ...make sure they have a vet and the vet will reference them and their puppies . This is the most important part .If they do not have a vet ,your puppy most likely has been seen only long enough to give it to you and that is not good .A complete check up is needed before they leave and if going out of state ,even if you pick up ,A STATE health certificate must be issued by a licensed vet in order for that puppy to cross state lines ,alot of breeders won't do this or give you false papers .Have your breeder to meet you at their vet to get those papers .That way you SEE the check up ,you SEE the vet ..

Another thing is how long the breeder has been breeding and breeding practices ..Do they sell to pet stores ? Brokers ? The answer here  should be no .  How long they have been breeding and been on the net is important too .

A breeder isn't necessaraily bad if they have been breeding under 5 years or if they have had 1 litter or 50 in those 5 years .However ,what makes them not a good breeder is the sales tactics they use and the vet recomendation and the care they have for their dogs /cats ,both breeders and puppies .Here on these pages we will discuss some of these .

BREEDER WARS ..this is a fact of life and continues to amaze me to what lengths a breeder will actually bad mouth another one to sell a puppy . Breeders that when you call or email them they say things like "Stay away from that breeder  or I heard that breeder did this or that " A good ,decent breeder will actually  say they know nothing unless they personally been there and experienced  the 'bad ' in another breeder and if you are a breeder you don't have the time to visit the world of breeders to find out ,so unless you been there ,done that ,you relaly don't have a clue ..The reason is simple ..A breeder that has only been breeding a couple years needs a reputation to build ,they use any tactic they can to 'sell' ..even  resorting to lies about another breeder .It happens eveyday .

States like Georgia and others  that keep records on breeders ,as all have to be state licensed in certain states ,call the State and ask for a copy of their breeding records ,usually this is the argriculture department ,this will cost you a few cents per page but well worth it in the long run . However ,every breeder gets a complaint at times ,make sure when you read a complaint about a breeder ,that the person making the complaint has all pertinent documents such as vet statements and other important documents and has supplied the state and the breeder with those or more than apt it is just a person that for one reason or the other dislikes the breeder . Most state employees that work the breeder /dog  /cat /animal departments dislike all breeders or either has  a friend that just loves the breed or crossbreed ,so asking them questions is not likely to give you the truth ,paperwork does ....

In states like Alabama ,you do not have to be state licensed ,so the best way to find out about a breeder is the www.bbb.org  and their vet . A good vet will only reference a breeder of they believe over a period of time that the breeder has given all to maintain good health and has a good vet record of follow up and other ..so ask their vet ,if a vet won't reference their puppies ,no matter what state ..don't go there .

1...In the last 5 years at least 10 to 15 new maltepoo/maltipoo/maltapoo breeders have popped up .Usually they are breeding 2nd generation. A maltipoo to a maltipoo .

Some are good breeders ,some however are not ,so here is what you should look for .

1.... How old was the female before they bred her ? 2 years should be the answer .

2..How long have they been breeding ? If just a couple years ,then they are not that knowlegeable about the crossbreed so where did they find their information they give out .

Not by owning dogs .Owning as pets ia a whole different aspect than breeding .

Do they have on their site the words 'registered' ,'breed' ,'conformation' ,'expert'(meaning them ) ,

and a whole list of other sales tactics .

Ethics and Poos4u ..I have been around since the word Maltipoo or Maltepoo or Maltapoo first started on the net .Alot of 'new breeders ' have come along, either made it past a year or failed  since then. It seems and I am learning more each day that I ,Poos4u are their whipping post . I am being called names , lies told about me , slander , and the 'new breeders ' are good at hiding it . Through the years ,even though I knew it was happening ,I stood by and said "I won't play the game " ,however I am a fighter not a liar .So the rules for Poos4u has indeed changed . Not that I will lie ,I won't ,however I will start putting the TRUTH up for all to see nomatter whom it hurts .Check page called Copy Cats ,find out for yourself just how far so called 'breeders ' will go to make a buck and to make me out to be something I am not .

Poos4u has a good reputation ,built not upon anothers back but our own . We are fighting back so Breeders Beware ..no longer will Poos4u take your crap and walk away !

Do they talk bad about another breeder ?

Or do they tell you untruths about another breeder ?

You bet they do and it is time and past time I stood up and said "NO MORE " and it is happening NOW !

Every breeder has references ,every breeder has issues ,every breeder starts out and has to build  a reputation based on what THEY have been through ,not what another breeder has told them or they can find on the net .

If they cannot explain what a crossbreed is in total and how their experience with both first and second generation is different ,then don't go there .

Check with the www.bbb.org  in the state they reside in

Before you buy from a breeder

Talk forums ..

Alot of breeders follow or join talk forums ,now there are breeders that own talk forums and usually those that do own talk boards  will not allow selling on them ,the reason is that breeders will follow the talk forums and suddenly join ,announce they have a litter for sale and try to sell them ,it use to be the way to get it out that you had a litter of puppies as alot of people searching for puppies go to talk forums to find a breeder . A breeder that has been on a talk board for a long time may say ..hey all ,go check out my babies or have you seen this one or that one ? That is not a sell tactic becuase they are  established members and usually just talking to other members they have known for a long time ,however if suddenly someone new pops in with a "I have a litter of this or that " that is not what you would consider as a breeder ..Don't ..

The best thing to do is to type in google or yahoo the words ..maltepoo..cockapoo..yorkiepoo or whatever one you are searching for and search that way the actual breeders .Then check with their vet and references they have ,

What is on the net about a breeder on a talk forum (breeders follow talk forums to sell or to try and down another breeder) or  a site that  is used like a Jerry Springer show is not information .You gather real info from a vet ,the references the breeder has and how long they have been on the net ,not how long they have been breeding but how they treat other breeders .You will be surprised at the tatics some use ..
