The most common things you may find in your new pet .First ,the three things found most common in puppies and what to look for and what Poos4u does and what sometimes happens .

First ,let me say that ALL breeders treat for worms ,puppies are BORN with them .Breeders that have said they have NO issues are not telling the truth .These days more and more breeders have coccidia and other issues also .So ,if a breeder says they pretreat for coccidia ,they have had it in hte past and will again .Coccidia does not go away and is common .

These issues we are going over on this page does NOT mean that your particular puppy has it or will have it ,just that these are common and can be found in puppies at any place and at any time .

Coccidia ...A protozoan  which lives in the intestines .Once a puppy goes to a new home this bacteria under stress quickly multiplies and causes loose bowels . Sometimes blood can be found in stools . Albon is the treatment and most breeders today have it . And do a pretreatment . However ,it is not easy to get rid of and once a breeder gets it , it is usually always there .Neither heat nor cold kills it .Bleach ,which kills alot of germs and bacteria does not kill it . Coccidia is easy to treat with Albon and if your puppy shows signs ,take to your vet .A breeder will usually send Albon along and give directions of how to use it .If used correctly ,this is gone within a few days and all is well .

Ear Mites ....ear mites travel fast and are found in cats and dogs . It is a very common illness .Treatment is Revolution on back of neck applied every two weeks and keeping hair pulled from ears and ears clean .Cats are big carriers of ear mites .So if you have a cat ,you need to be aware that your puppy may also wind up with the earmites .

Worms ..Puppies are born with worms 99.9 percent of the time .

Hooks and rounds are the most common  .A breeder or vet will usually use Pyrantal (Nemex) at 2 ,3 4, and 6 weeks of age to remove those .

A puppy then is wormed at 6 to 10 weeks with Drontal .

Poos4u has had coccidia in some puppies once they leave us and go to new homes .We bought some Poodles from a breeder about 6 years ago and Coccidia came with them as our bonus .We rarely have it show up  in our puppies after they go to a new home but it does happen sometimes ..We clean constantly and try our best to make sure all puppies are cleared before they leave but since coccidia hides untuil stress ,sometimes one will show signs after they leave us .We always send albon and tell the owner how to use it and why .

Worms ..we treat with Pyrantal at 2,3,4 and 6 weeks and then our vet worms with Drontal before the puppy leaves so we never have a round or hook issue . It would be uncommon for that to happen to us .

Ear mites ...We have cats that  love our puppies and nomater how many times we have treated those cats ,they still will come back after an outting and have earmites which then we will find a few of our puppies with those .We also rescue and the number one thing we find iin rescues are earmites .In the last 2 rescues we have gotten they were badly infected with earmites and so we expect that we will find a few of ours with them also .

We use Revolution on the back of the neck as a pretreatment and as first months heartworming . but ear mites since we have cats and have rescues are an issue here at times .We rarely have one to have them but they will every now and then .

You can call our vet at

256-574-6214 and they will tell you that it is not a common thing here ,but we have had some and take care to try and not have them but still get them every now and tehn ,espically when we have several litters of puppies at one time and in cooler weather where the cats stay more in than out and we have rescues .

We are honest about it .We hide nothing .

If your puppy has earmites ,let us know and we will send the revolution to you to clear that up .Should take about 2 weeks .
